PCC backs Chief Constable

The Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner is backing the message contained within West Midlands Police Chief Constable's latest blog

The Assistant Police and Crime Commissioner, Dr Lynnette Kelly, said: "The recent rise in violent crime is of real concern to the Police and Crime Commissioner, the Chief Constable and me.

"We share people's worries about knife crime and will monitor closely the response by West Midlands Police. One life lost is one too many. People must feel safe in the West Midlands.

"The Chief Constable is right to say we need communities across the region to work with police officers in an effort to prevent violence. I urge you to pass on any information you feel could be useful to officers as soon as possible.

"To those who not only choose to ignore the law, but worse, attack police officers who enforce it; I have this message. You will be stopped, arrested and imprisoned.

"The Police and Crime Commissioner funds educational projects in schools to warn our young people of the dangers of gun and knife crime. We have also successfully lobbied the government to ban the sale of dangerous Zombie knives. Across the West Midlands we have placed knife surrender bins. We urge anyone who is carrying a knife for the wrong reasons, to use the bins and make the right decision."
