business summit audienceWest Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Bob Jones places a high priority on reducing business crime, as a driver for growth and employment.  Only by engaging with businesses can policing and community safety activities be appropriately tailored.

The Police and Crime Commissioner held a Business Crime Summit on Monday 28 January 2013, one in a series of consultation and engagement meetings designed to support the development of the first Police and Crime Plan.

The event was chaired by Paul Bennett, President of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce, and included presentations from Mike Williams (Chief Finance Officer, West Midlands Office for Policing and Crime) and Chief Superintendent Sally Bourner (Force lead for Business Crime).  There was also a demonstration of the Facewatch software application, which facilitates easy transfer of CCTV information and crime reporting.  Copies of Paul's speech, Sally's presentation and the slides about Facewatch are available to download.

Highlight of the evening was a short film setting out the West Midlands Police response to key business crime issues:

Information on how the summit influenced the development of the police and crime plan will be available soon.
