Following reports over the future of Remembrance Sunday parades
in Walsall, council leader Sean Coughlan and Police and Crime
Commissioner David Jamieson have joined forces to reassure the
public that the parades will go ahead.

and Crime Commissioner will jointly fund the road closures.
The commitment is for one year only while the council and police
encourage event organisers to put alternative measures in place for
their 2017 events.
Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson said: "On my watch,
there was just no way that these parades would be cancelled.
"This announcement shows mine and Walsall Council's commitment to
honouring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we
Leader of Walsall Council Sean Coughlan said: "I am pleased that
we have found a compromise for this year, which recognises the
limited time available for event organisers to put in place safe
arrangements for their parades."
