PCC responds to Mayor's intervention 'that the cuts have gone far enough'
The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner has
welcomed West Midlands Mayor Andy Street's comments 'that the cuts
have gone far enough.'
Responding to the comments, West Midlands Police and Crime
Commissioner David Jamieson, said:
"This is a welcome and long overdue
"I look forward to Andy Street repeating the message in the
conference hall to government ministers at the party conference
"The independent National Audit Office highlighted that West
Midlands Police has been hit more than twice as hard by the cuts
than forces such as leafy, low crime Surrey.
"When the Chancellor delivers his budget on October 29th
more funding for West Midlands Police needs to be included in

"I do also think it is right to say that the cuts have gone far
"It's not reasonable to expect that this continues.
"It is right, what has been said by the Chief Constable and the
PCC, that the settlement for the West Midlands has been less
favourable than for other areas.
"I hope the Home Secretary is able to win the case for better
investment for West Midlands Police."
