Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster has spoken after 12-year-old Leo Ross died after being stabbed in Birmingham.

He said: “My thoughts are with the victim and his family. It is important that they receive all the help and support they need at this time.

“Preventing and tackling violence and knife crime is a top priority. That is because of the catastrophic and devastating consequences for victims, their families, friends and local communities.

“I understand that West Midlands Police acted immediately and made an arrest. It is essential that whoever was responsible for this brutal and abhorrent crime is brought to justice at the earliest possible opportunity.

“I would urge anyone who has any information relevant to this case to submit it to West Midlands Police either via the Major Incident Public Portal or report that information via 101 or Live Chat, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
