West Midlands Police and Crime Panel meeting

West Midlands Police and Crime Panel is meeting on 26 November 2012, at 1.30pm in Committee Room 1, Civic Suite, Solihull, B91 3PX.

The Police and Crime Panel has a key role in supporting and scrutinising the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner.  This meeting will be the first attended by Lionel Walker and Nick Drew, the two recently appointed independent members of the Panel.

If the newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner decides to appoint a Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, this meeting could be the confirmatory hearing.  The PCC must notify the Panel of the name of the candidate, the criteria used to assess the suitability of of the candidate, why the candidate satisfies those criteria, and the terms and conditions of the appointment.  The Police and Crime Panel cannot veto a PCC's selection of Deputy PCC, but must make a report recommending whether or not the Deputy PCC should be appointed.

The meeting is public and all are welcome to attend.
