West Midlands Police and Crime Panel meeting
West Midlands Police and Crime Panel is meeting on 26 November
2012, at 1.30pm in Committee Room 1, Civic Suite,
Solihull, B91 3PX.
The Police and Crime Panel has a key role in supporting and
scrutinising the work of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
This meeting will be the first attended by Lionel Walker and Nick
Drew, the two recently appointed independent members of the
If the newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner decides to
appoint a Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, this meeting could
be the confirmatory hearing. The PCC must notify the Panel of
the name of the candidate, the criteria used to assess the
suitability of of the candidate, why the candidate satisfies those
criteria, and the terms and conditions of the appointment.
The Police and Crime Panel cannot veto a PCC's selection of Deputy
PCC, but must make a report recommending whether or not the Deputy
PCC should be appointed.
The meeting is public and all are welcome to attend.
