| #POWERS | We will be using Section 60 powers in West Bromwich today (Fri) following disorder in the town. Section 60 powers allow us to stop and search people without the need to have reasonable grounds. The powers will be in place from until 10pm and will cover the area of West Bromwich highlighted on the map. The Section 60 was put in place following incidents of disorder involving weapons on the evening of June 4 and 5 with six people arrested and weapons recovered. As always, our main focus is on keeping everyone safe. Chief Inspector Richard Boulter, of West Bromwich Police, said: “We don’t use these powers lightly, but we will use all our powers to ensure the safety of people in the area.
