Reason for Authority (Brief Summary
Coventry has suffered from
approximately 40 (intel quality varies) violent, firearms and knife related
incidents in the past three months linked to C2/RB7 gang tensions and other
disputes involving member of organised criminal groups attacking each other.
Although longstanding, these incidents have increased in severity and frequency.
There have been series of
attempted murders, woundings (by shooting/stabbing) and firearms discharges
involving C2/RB7 groups which are well documented, as is the view that West
Midlands Police may be unaware of a high volume of other matters which have
occurred which have not been formally reported. It is my assessment is that there continues
to be on-going tensions and there is the strong possibility that further violence/firearms
discharges will occur in the Wood End area of Coventry. It is of note that
two of the three most recent discharges have occurred over the weekend
between the hours 2100-0000hrs.
