This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant contribution to the future of West Midlands Police by working with the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner and West Midlands Chief Constable who are seeking to appoint Independent Members to work collaboratively as part of their Joint Audit Committee. We are particularly looking for experienced and dynamic individuals with skills in project management, estates management or information technology to support the wide-ranging agenda of the Committee.

To be considered for any of these roles’ applicants will be required to have one or more of the following backgrounds:

  • Skills in project management or managing extensive change programmes
  • Experience of managing estates across a large organisation
  • Information technology experience in a complex organisation
  • Experience of working in policing and custody
  • Recent experience in a similar role on a board or committee

The Joint Audit Committee is key to the Commissioner’s and Chief Constable’s delivery of effective governance, assurance, risk management and statutory financial duties.   All committee Members will be expected to contribute to the effective work of the Joint Audit Committee, providing advice and support to the Commissioner and the Chief Constable in their decision making.  

Persons appointed as Independent Members to the Joint Audit Committee may not be current contractors, suppliers or employees of the Commissioner or Chief Constable, nor employed or contracted as such within the last 3 years. Committee members will be engaged on a contract for services with detailed terms and conditions which will secure the proper performance of their role in the public interest.

The West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner understands that to effectively serve an area with such a rich cultural tapestry like the West Midlands, it is vital it is driven by people who reflect the diverse cultures and backgrounds that form its communities.  To achieve this, we are seeking applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences to represent the West Midlands.

Successful applicants will need to be police vetted to Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) Level 1 due to the confidential nature of information and/or data being considered from time to time.
