Unsung heroes from across the West Midlands are being given their moment in the spotlight.

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson has launched his Outstanding Citizens Awards 2016.

The ceremony will take place on July 13 and the deadline for nominations is April 1.

There are three awards up for grabs: Outstanding Citizen, Outstanding Young Citizen and Outstanding Community Project. So if you know a tireless community campaigner or a member of the public who went above and beyond, nominate them now.

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson said: “This is our chance to say ‘thank you’ to those people who work to make the West Midlands a better place.

“Whether they are a long-standing community campaigner, someone who runs a worthwhile project or simply a member of the public who stepped up when the time called for it, nominate them now and ensure they get the recognition they deserve.”

Nominations are now closed and the shortlisted winners and runners-up are being contacted.
