Police and Crime Commissioner Simon Foster has issued a statement after two police officers were injured as they attended a property in Birmingham on Sunday.

The officers were taken to hospital and thankfully following treatment have since been discharged.

A man in his 50s arrested on suspicion of wounding remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner, Simon Foster said: “It is completely unacceptable for any police officer to be assaulted, whilst they work bravely and tirelessly to keep people across the West Midlands safe.

“This is a deeply concerning incident. My thoughts are with the 2 police officers who were injured. I know West Midlands Police will support the officers, whilst they recover from their injuries.”
