| We’ve put extra police powers in place this evening following a number of disorders across Bloxwich that have left one man with serious injuries. The man has been taken to hospital with stab injuries following a disorder that happened around the Guild Avenue, Chapel Street and Dawson Street area of Blakenall at around 2.45pm today (27 May). We were called to the area after reports of shots fired and a disorder involving knives. The 55-year-old man was located on Dawson Street and remains in hospital. Cordons have been placed around areas of Guild Avenue, Chapel Street and Dawson Street as we continue to investigate the incidents. It’s believed that today’s disorder may be connected with others that began in Dawson Street yesterday afternoon (26 May). We were called to Dawson Street at around 4.45pm yesterday (26 May) following reports of people fighting in the street. This spilled out across other areas of Blakenall and Bloxwich throughout the evening. As a result, a section 60 order has been put in place which gives us extra powers to stop and search people. The extra powers started at 3.30pm today (27 May) and will be in effect for the next 24 hours. We will also be increasing our patrols and visibility in the area as we continue to investigate the incidents.
